Objective

For your first project, I would like you to respond to a very general prompt: Time.

You can interpret that in any way you like from the literal to the emotional. The only important piece is that you are able to articulate how it responds to the prompt.

Getting Started

  1. Accept the assignment from Classroom 50
  2. Clone the repository GitHub classroom creates to your local computer (in your shell, type git clone and the address of the repository)
Tip

I have noticed that Classroom 50 adds a lot of noise to the name of your repositories which make it difficult to figure out which sketch is which from a file browser.

You can rename the directory without breaking anything, and I suggest that you do so.

git even provides you a way to do this at the moment when you clone the repository:

git clone <repo address> <new name>

Requirements

  • The piece should involve noise in a non-trivial way
  • The piece should use color in a deliberate and intentional way
  • The piece should use repetition in a deliberate and intentional way
  • The work should be “long form” which is to say, every run should be a coherent and sharable piece in a collection
  • Your submission must include 3-5 curated outputs of your sketch
  • You must complete the reflection (as detailed below)

Reflection

In the README file, I would like you to write a description of your piece and how to read it. I should be able to use your description to understand all of the ways you have mapped the current time to a visual representation.

In the reflection.md file, I would like you to write a reflection. here are the questions I would like you to answer

  • What is your concept and how did you realize it with this piece?
  • For color, noise/randomness, and color, what choices did you make and why did you make them?
  • What steps did you take to make sure that the project worked as a “long form” piece?
  • What (if anything) still is not complete?
  • If it is not complete, what is left and how are you going to address it?
  • What (if anything) did you struggle with?
  • What, if anything, have you gained by completing this project?

Revisions

If you revise your submission, please add a dated addition to your reflection that describes what has been changed.

Submitting

When you are ready to submit,

  1. Add and commit your changes and push those commit(s) to GitHub.
  2. Submit your repository to Gradescope
