Assignment

For your first assignment, I would like you to read the chapter that I've placed on Canvas. (Please note that this chapter is being shared under educational fair use, and should not be further distributed.)

When you are done, I would like you to write a short response to the reading. Please answer the following questions:

1. Provide a quote from the chapter that best captures the concept of Human Centered Design. Provide both the quote and its location within the reading. Explain why you chose this particular quote.
2. Norman describes both a conceptual model and a system model. Describe how they are related and how they differ in in no more than a couple of sentences.
3. Think about the things that you interact with regularly. Describe one that is difficult to use, or you don't use all of its features. Use the concepts of affordance, signifier, mapping, and feedback to describe one way in which the artifact is difficult to interact with. You do not need to use all of the concepts -- just the ones that are relevant. Please write no more than a few sentences. A picture would be appreciated if possible.

Your work will be graded on the following scale:
