Tools
Here is a collection of tools that you may find helpful.
Zotero
At a minimum, you need some kind of reference manager. I recommend Zotero, but there are others out there if you don't like Zotero.
Bibdesk
I used BibDesk for many year. It is more bare bones than Zotero, but it saves everything in a format you can use directly in LaTeX.
Overleaf
Overleaf has quickly become on of the number one ways to write LaTeX documents since it doesn't require a large and complex installation and it largely takes care of the build process for you.
