A Guide to CS Drop-in Help Sessions

As the name suggests, no appointments needed. Just drop in with questions at the specified time and place! A detailed schedule for each class is below with pictures to help identify the course assistant.

The expectation is that you are asking the course assistants specific questions about your assignment, i.e., you have already thoroughly read through the assignment and have begun to work on your solution. To maximize the number of students the course assistants can assist they may help you with just one issue at a time (before moving onto someone else who is waiting) and ask you to work through that issue - with their suggestions/feedback - on your own before asking another question.

If you find yourself at the drop-in hours night after night or for extended periods that is good prompt to reach out to your course instructor to identify additional sources of support.

Assistant in Instruction (ASI) office hours

Noah Rizika will be holding office hours Monday through Friday. Feel free to drop in to ask any questions.

He can comfortably offer help in 145, 201, 202 and 312.

He can also work together with you to solve problems in 315.

It might be helpful to send him an email with the topics/questions you are struggling with so he can help you more efficiently.

Learning Environment

The Computer Science Department values the creation of an inclusive learning environment where diversity and individual differences are respected and recognized as a source of strength. This is a group effort, so as course assistants and students attending the drop-in sessions you are expected to join in our efforts to foster such an environment. Everyone involved represent a diversity of individual backgrounds and experiences, and each person is expected to show respect for every other person so that everyone can learn and thrive in this space. If you experience or witness any behavior that opposes this idea, it would be helpful for us to know so that we can address it. Please fill out our anonymous feedback form if you want to provide anonymous feedback (of any kind) about CS drop-in help sessions.
