FYS 1211 - Second Presentations

The theme for the second set of presentations is "Computers and Intelligence - developments since 1979".

Here are the topics, groups, and presentation dates:

DateTopicPresenters
Thu 11/13 Brains and Minds update (could include On Intelligence) Eli, Kelsey
Tue 11/18 Brain and music (see also this book) Mariana, Daniel
Thu 11/20 AI and strategic games Porter, Mike
Thu 11/20 AI and philosophy (include "On Ego"?, Chinese room argument?) Josh, John, Jay
Tue 11/25 Computers and creativity (music and art) Christina, Diego, Nicole
Tue 12/2 Theories of Consciousness Yoji, Derek M., Derek W.

Your presentation should be about 30 minutes long, and should be split evenly among the group members. Make it interesting and fun: try to incorporate multimedia elements (PowerPoint, images, sounds, movies), interactivity, and whatever else you can think of. Your research could include other sources than the library and the web - for example, interview an "expert" (a faculty member on campus, or perhaps even somewhere else by email.)

Note: At least one full day before your presentation, send me an email with an outline of your presentation (including information on who presents what). Also, please tell me your multimedia needs (computer projection, video, CD, ...)

A bibliography (including several printed sources) is due on Tuesday, 11/11.
The first group (Eli and Kelsey) should submit their bibliography already on Thursday 11/6.
